Local trucking company set to close doors

A local transportation company in central Wisconsin is closing its doors.

Ruan Transport announced last week that it's closing its plant in Wisconsin Rapids in March. According to papers filed with the Department of Workforce Development, 37 people will lose their jobs.

"The reason that we were given was because the facility needed a number of upgrades and the company chose not to make them at that facility," said Wisconsin Rapids Mayor Zack Vruwink.

Ruan Transport is a trucking firm. It employs 5,100 people across the country.
