Badger State Games preparations continue

MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) - The Badger State Games continue this weekend in Central Wisconsin, and organizers are getting ready for round two of the games with some new events.

Slalom and downhill slalom alpine skiing are the events held at Granite Peak Ski Area. Other events in the area include snowboarding and curling. There are even some new events like crossfit.

Organizers continue to prepare by getting supplies and medals ready. Participants say you can already feel the anticipation for the weekend.

"They're pretty excited,” said Richard Barrett, the director of sales. “We always say every sport always has a passion for their sport, and that's what makes it really interesting and fun to see people that they're really into it. They know exactly what they have to do what want to do and why they want to do it."

Organizers say Granite Peak will also have a workshop Friday night at the slopes. Skiers who want to practice before the games are welcomed to stop by.
