Safety on roads during arctic blast

MARATHON COUNTY (WAOW) - State Patrol is advising drivers about taking care of their cars and themselves in this arctic blast.

Some tips include making sure your vehicle is checked and ready to hit the road, and you have enough clothing to handle the cold.

State Patrol officers say even though this weather isn't like the storm we had last week, drivers still need to be aware of ice on the roads while driving.

"We recommend people have a heightened awareness when the roads are bad, and they should slow down and plan ahead,” said Sgt. Bryan Wrycha of Wisconsin State Patrol. “So take more time when they are driving, and if there isn't a heightened awareness maybe there should be."

Officers also say if there is a problem on the roads from the weather, stay in your car and call 911.
