Wind chill advisory active tonight

The National Weather Service will have a wind chill advisory active for Marathon, Wood, Portage, Lincoln, Oneida, Vilas, Langlade, Forest, Florence, Shawano, Waupaca, Waushara, Taylor, Clark, Monroe, Adams, Juneau and Price Counties from 6 p.m. tonight until noon on Thursday.

Temperatures are again forecast to drop below zero tonight and with strong winds expected to hail from the northwest, wind chill factors could drop into the -20 to -30 degree or colder range into early Thursday morning.

Wind chill factors this low indicate frostbite can develop in less than 30 minutes on exposed skin.

Temperatures are expected to remain below average for the immediate future. Normal highs this time in January are typically in the mid to low 20s. Current data keeps high temperatures in the single digits through Thursday, and then again from next Sunday through Tuesday.
