$740,700 earmarked for Rib Mt. State Park

MADISON (WAOW) – The state Building Commission on Wednesday approved $740,700 for more improvements at Rib Mountain State Park near Wausau.

The work, slated to begin in July, will improve the existing day-use area, including the amphitheater, and will continue to convert existing campground areas into day-use facilities, the state Department of Natural Resources said.

The project will include new bathrooms, a new park entrance sign and better roads and pathways, the DNR said.

These improvements will transform this outdated park into a state-of-the-art one with modern amenities including group picnic and day-use facilities,” the DNR said. “These improvements will attract more park users.”

The work is scheduled to be completed by January 2015.

The eight-member Building Commission, chaired by Gov. Scott Walker, includes state lawmakers and one citizen member.
