Newsline 9's David DeGuzman has accepted a job with NBC Olympics.

He will leave for Sochi, Russia this weekend.

"I will be working in the Sports Desk Department. It is a mini newsroom filled with sports producers and talent. Basically, we will be covering news and writing a whole bunch of stories," said DeGuzman.

DeGuzman says he is excited to be part of the world event despite reports about possible terror threats against the games.

He says NBC has a security plan.

"They have their own security forces there they have worked with U.S. and Russian security and I think NBC is as prepared as they can be. This isn't their first Olympics," said DeGuzman.

As he prepares to begin his new career journey, DeGuzman reflected on the 15 months he has spent with Newsline 9.

"I've been so grateful for every athlete, coach, parent and Packers fan. They welcomed me with open arms. I will miss that and I will miss central Wisconsin a lot," said DeGuzman.
