STEVENS POINT (WAOW) – Mayor Andrew Halverson says the sale of two assets of the Noel Group will be the “start of an amazing chapter of development for the Stevens Point economy.”

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance said Monday that it signed an agreement to acquire Noel Group's MyAssist Inc. and Insure America LLC.

MyAssist is a live agent personal assistance and information and communication technology company. Insure America provides insurance products to the travel industry.

John Noel, founder and chairman of Noel Group, said he will continue to head the two companies and will focus on growing them globally.

We are honored to be part of the world-class group of companies that is Berkshire Hathaway,” he said in a statement. “This opportunity allows us to grow our businesses.”

Berkshire Hathaway is a multinational holding company in Omaha whose chairman is billionaire investor Warren Buffett. Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance is based in Boston.

Peter Eastwood, president of Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, called the acquisitions a great fit for his company.

Their unique capabilities complement our existing positions in insurance and customer service and will help us extend our brand and create new business opportunities,” he said in a statement.

Halverson said the transaction was a “great pairing” of John Noel's entrepreneurialism and vision with Berkshire Hathaway's diversified portfolio.

Needless to say, we are very excited about what the future will hold for Stevens Point in terms of jobs, growth and development with the inclusion of a company of Berkshire Hathaway's prowess,” Halverson said.
