Extreme cold closes Granite Peak again

RIB MOUNTAIN (WAOW) - The extreme cold has shut down a popular winter attraction.

Granite Peak Ski Hill is closed. Leaders there say it's too cold for employees, customers, and equipment.

The general manager says the hill will also close Tuesday, making it the fourth time this winter.

"In my history I've never seen it, however many ski areas in the state of Wisconsin and Minnesota are closing due to the fact that it is you know so cold," said Vicki Baumann, Granite Peak General Manager.

The ski hill is expected to open again on Wednesday.
