Propane shortage affecting Athletic Park renovations

WAUSAU (WAOW) - Renovations to Athletic Park are halfway completed.

The new ballpark will feature upgraded concession stands, improved seating, and three climate controlled luxury suites, according to the Woodchucks.

The work has taken place during one of harshest winters in years. But Woodchucks general manager Ryan Treu says working in the frigid temperatures has not been the biggest challenge for construction crews.

"The biggest challenge was the propane shortage. We had to switch everything over to natural gas to keep the building heated for we could continue pouring concrete and doing masonry work”, said Treu.

Despite the harsh conditions, Woodchucks officials say construction remains on track.

“The Samuels Group has done a good job of keeping us on schedule,” said Treu, who expects the new ball park to open in mid-April.
