Wausau area students collect clothing for "Teens for Jeans"
WAUSAU (WAOW) -
A Wausau High School is collecting jeans for teens in need.
Wausau West students are behind the "Teens for Jeans" clothing drive. The nationwide effort is sponsored by dosomething.org and Aeropostale. Students collect jeans and bring them to a local Aeropostale store. The store then distributes the jeans to homeless shelters in central Wisconsin.
"A lot of people do soup drives and food drives, and jeans are something different," said Wausau West student council president Ali Oosterhuis. "I know a lot of my peers say they have a lot of jeans left over in their closet and they were willing to donate them."
There are two drop-off stations for unwanted jeans. They are located at Wausau West High School in the commons and the main office. The collection ends February 14.
