Senior Blake Anderson is a three sport star for Auburndale High School, but his greatest feeling as an Apache came last winter on the hardwood of the Kohl Center.
Anderson and the Apaches took 2nd place in the Division 4 State Basketball Tournament in 2013. The senior guard says that losing in the state title game last year has him even more hungry to get back there this march.
So far that motivation is paying off. Auburndale is 13-1 and undefeated in the Marawood. Anderson leads the 4th ranked Apaches with 15 points a game. Although Anderson normally has jam-packed stat lines, his coach says it's the simplicity of his game that stands out.
"He keeps things very simple. He doesn't make it complicated. His shot, it's real simple and quick, not a lot of twisting and turning, leaning, fading, things like that. He's a kid that keeps it simple."
Blake Anderson agrees, "It's a great feeling being that guy. I mean, everyone on our team can score baskets at any moment, but being that guy that if we need a bucket coach will look to me. Or for a three point shot and he puts in a play, he'll run it for me. It's a pretty good feeling."
