Mosinee camp brings together children with diabetes

Posted:
MOSINEE (WAOW) - Children with Type 1 diabetes enjoyed a camp just for them Saturday.

Aspirus held the first pediatric diabetes camp at the DCE School Forest. The children made animal tracks, watched birds, and snowshoed.

Organizers say the camp was a great way for the children to interact and share their experiences of living with diabetes.

"It's a great opportunity for them to not keep hearing from their parents or their health care providers about diabetes, but to learn from each other and I think it's just a great way for kids to kind of learn how to live with type one diabetes," said Jennifer Mikulich, an Aspirus diabetes educator.

Funding for the camp came from the EO Johnson Legacy Fund. Organizers say they look forward to holding more events like this in the future.
