National signing day is officially Wednesday, but three local athletes took the initiative to announce where their hard work at Wausau West has brought them to the next step of their life in a college scholarship.
Chris Clementi has signed his letter of intent to Northern Michigan. Clementi says the NCAA Division II school wants him to play safety.
As a senior at West Clementi earned first-team All-Valley Football Association North recognition as a corner back, and second-team recognition as a receiver. He also helped the Warriors earn a home playoff game for the first time in school history as the school went 5-2 in league play and 6-4 overall.
Another D2 signing for the Warriors football team. Inside linebacker Cole Radloff is heading to Winona State. A school he says has been his number one choice since his junior year. Radloff a first-team all-valley football association north division selection at linebacker this season is likely to red shirt at Winona State which is coming off a 6-5 season and a 4-3 mark in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Radloff was also the recipient of the Win Brockmeyer award this year.
In Track and Field, Wausau West's Katrina Cihlar signed her letter of intent with Division I South Alabama. Cihlar, who hopes to obtain a doctorate degree in physical therapy, ranks fourth individually in Wausau West's history in both the shot put and discuss.
Cihlar tells us, while at Wausau West she learned the value of teamwork, and hopes to bring that attitude with her to the next level.
