Tomahawk man killed in rural Rhinelander fire

RHINELANDER (WAOW) – The man killed in a fire that destroyed a rural Rhinelander home was from Tomahawk, the Oneida County Sheriff's Department said Wednesday.

Seth J. Fehr, 24, died in the blaze, which erupted about 1 a.m. Monday, Lt. Dan Hess said.

Two women who escaped the fire were 20-year-old sisters who lived at the home, which was next door to their father's home, Hess said.

One of the sisters was taken to a hospital in Madison with severe burns, he said.

The third person to escape the fire was a 19-year-old man, Hess said.

The home had a wood-burning stove or fireplace in the kitchen area but it was not known whether it was connected to the fire, Hess said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the state Fire Marshal, Hess said.
