Wednesday was National Letter of Intent day. Many of our area athletes have promising collegiate student athlete futures.
We begin on the soccer field. SPASH senior Jenny Hoerter signing with Mankato. "A lot of dedication over the years. A lot of traveling and time and money spent. I couldn't have done that without my parents"
Hoerter will see a familiar face, as DC Everest Mali Theiss will join her as a Maverick. "This is where I've been my whole life so going as far as I am, I'm going to have to be by myself for a bit and rebuild everything that I have here."
Wisconsin Rapids Lauren Anderson is headed to Concordia St.Paul. "I never really thought that I'd be signing today and it just goes to show that all the hard work and help I've had from people. It really does pay off."
Staying on the field, Darien Molter found the distance of Winona State appealing. "It was the perfect size I was looking for the perfect location, it's far enough from home but my parents can still come and support me."
Joining Molter at Winona State is Amherst's Lindsey Rutz, but she's pledged her future to the track and field team and plans to join the nursing program as well. "The coaching staff and athletes that were there were really nice and people that you can talk to all the time."
Rebecca Voss will be a short drive away from home, as she has signed with UW Green Bay to run cross country. "Now that it's here it's crazy to know that it's reality and not a dream."
