Free dental care helps give kids a smile

Nearly 50 uninsured children signed up for free dental care Friday in Wausau.

Volunteer dentists and hygienists from Cherry Tree Dental offices provided the care.

"There are lot of children out there who are unable to afford dental care and this is a great way we can help them out," said Dr. Noelle Marks.

Organizers say the program is part of a nationwide effort to raise awareness about the challenges needy families face.

Children who signed up were given free dental exams and cleanings.

Dentists say any cavities that were found were filled and teeth that needed to be extracted were taken out.
