UPDATE: Vet checks animals at Adams Co. Humane Society after fire

ADAMS COUNTY (WAOW) -- A veterinarian who checked out pets at the Adams County Humane Society after a fire Monday morning says the animals all appear to be fine. The fire is out.

The shelter posted on Facebook that the fire may have started because of the washer or dryer. Officials at the humane society report that they were able to get all of the animals out safely.

Shelter leaders say the Columbia County Humane Society will be taking the cats, but say the dogs will stay at the Adams County Humane Society.

Officials are also looking for a place to house some rats that were at the shelter.

Newsline 9 will update this story as more information becomes available.
