Sheriff: Pot worth $2M seized at rural home

WAUSAU (WAOW) – The Marathon County Sheriff's Department says it has seized marijuana worth an estimated street value of $2 million from a rural Athens home.

Last Thursday's search of the home recovered 727 marijuana plants, 1,466 grams of processed marijuana, several thousand dollars in cash and equipment to grow and process marijuana, Sheriff Scott Parks said in a statement.

The discovery followed a call from a local delivery company about a suspicious package that a drug-sniffing dog confirmed as possibly illegal, Parks said.

That led to a search of a Wausau home where 2,159 grams of processed marijuana and several thousand dollars in cash were seized.

Bryan Arnold, 33, was arrested, investigators said. He was charged in Marathon County Circuit Court on Monday with six felonies, including maintaining a drug trafficking place, according to online court records. He was jailed on a $25,000 cash bond.

Drug charges are pending against occupants of the Athens home, Parks said.
