Marshfield police chief announces retirement

MARSHFIELD (WAOW) -- Marshfield Police Chief Gary Jepsen has announced he will retire after 32 years with the department.

Jepsen has served as the police chief for the past four years. He announced that his last day will be on May 15.

“This is a bitter-sweet decision as I still possess a great deal of passion for the job and service to the community as well as my fellow officers and other personnel of the department,” Jepsen said in a statement to the police and fire commission.

Jepsen says he will spend the next two years building a retirement home on a Mississippi River bluff.
