Equipment failure causes one-hour power loss

STEVENS POINT (WAOW) – About 5,200 Wisconsin Public Service customers in the Stevens Point area were without power Friday afternoon for about an hour because of equipment failure, the utility said.

The outage began about 1:15 p.m., because of problems at a substation, the utility said.

The areas affected were some of the northeast side of Stevens Point and the towns of Linwood, Sharon, Stockton and Hull.
 
Power was restored at 2:12 p.m., WPS said.
