UPDATE: One killed in car-van crash in Oneida County

RHINELANDER (WAOW) – Oneida County Sheriff Dept. released the name of the woman who died in a car crash on Friday. Monica Bartishofski, 36, of Rhinelander was killed when her car collided with a van on icy U.S. Highway 8 west of Rhinelander, the Oneida County Sheriff's Department said. They say Bartishofski lost control of her vehicle and crashed into oncoming traffic.

Two others were hurt.

The crash happened about 10 a.m. in the Town of Woodboro and blocked the highway for about two hours, the agency said.

"The road conditions due to snow and ice were a factor," Lt. Lloyd Gauthier said. "Our roads were so bad we had multiple accidents at the time."

The name of the woman killed is not expected to be released until Saturday, pending notification of relatives, he said.

No other details were immediately released.
