Students battle in Science Olympiad

Posted:
WAUSAU (WAOW) - It was a battle of the brains at the North Regional Science Olympiad in Wausau on Saturday.

About 100 students representing nine high schools competed in the event. Teams participated in 25 science knowledge and skills competitions.

In one event, students built cars that had to carry an egg without breaking it.

"They get to explore a variety of possible college paths, possible career paths even, anything from engineering to chemistry to physics, biology, problem solving," said Brad Paff, a Science Olympiad coach. "It's got it all."

Regional qualifiers will advance to the state tournament in April.
