State Patrol advising drivers to prepare for incoming snow

State Patrol officers are reminding drivers to be extra careful driving in likely snowy conditions on Monday morning. They're predicting that the heavier, wetter snow will give more drivers trouble during the morning commute.

"It's going to make travel pretty difficult in the morning and it's going to force people to slow down whether they want to or not," said Sgt. Rhae Stertz of State Patrol. "Traction on the road is going to be next to none. The roads will be much more slippery with the heavy snow and you can get stuck much easier. There's probably going to be some slush on the roadway."

She says people should avoid traveling if they can.

But for people who will have to travel, officers say they should give themselves plenty of extra time, leave plenty of space between other vehicles and drive at slower speeds.

They also say drivers should check road conditions before leaving for their destinations.
