Wausau cell phone ban now law

WAUSAU (WAOW) - Wausau's cell phone ban is now officially law, according to the city clerk.

Toni Rayala says the law was published on Friday afternoon. The ban went into effect on Saturday.

The law makes it illegal for people to talk on their phones with a handheld device while driving.

The Wausau Police Department says during the first few months of the law, they will give out warnings to raise awareness about the new ban.
