Storm inches Wausau area closer to breaking snowfall record

Nearing the record Nearing the record
WAUSAU (WAOW) - We are inching closer to breaking a total winter snowfall record for the Wausau area that dates back more than 50 years.

"With more snow on the way for Thursday we could break that record for snowfall in a December, January and February of 64.1 inches that was set back in 1961-1962," said Newsline 9 Meteorologist Justin Loew.

We talked with several people in Wausau to get their reaction to the latest round of snow. Some said it's beautiful, and others said it's time for the snow to go.

Newsline 9 meteorologists estimate the Wausau area will have 57 total inches for this winter by the end of Monday.
