Proposed Kwik Trip location draws opposition

Neighbors in Wausau sounded off Wednesday evening about a proposed Kwik Trip.

The company wants to build the convenience store at 1204 Bridge Street on the city's west side.

Developers say it would bring jobs to the area and tax revenue to Wausau. But neighbors who attended Wednesday's meeting say they don't want it.

"It's going to create traffic and noise pollution, light pollution in the area," said Mark Milanowski, owner of Woodland Twin Homes. "I don't think it's a good fit for the property."

"It's the silent majority that isn't here that will find it as a convenient place for them to shop," said Hans Zietlow, Kwik Trip director of real estate.

The city council is expected to vote next week on whether to rezone the lot to allow the store.
