Drivers face messy roads from winter weather

WAUSAU (WAOW) - Drivers faced messy roads Thursday night.

Paula Graveen-Brainard of Wausau was out practicing at the Wausau Curling Center. Her practice was not canceled in this winter weather.

"They didn't cancel anything,” said Graveen-Brainard. “Normally we have ten teams, but there were only six that showed, and I think it was because of the bad weather."

Even though her day was done, she was already planning ahead for a tough morning commute.

"Where I live, we don't get plowed out right away,” said Graveen-Brainard. “So I may end up being late, but that's the way it is."

Others are also bracing for a tough ride into work.

"Get up early, get the driveways clear from the snow plows, and just go about our day to day," said Derrick Robbins of Wausau.

At the Kwik Trip in Wausau, drivers say they're trying to remember those common sense tips to stay safe.

"Always make sure that you're driving slow, obey the speed limits, and keep both hands on the wheel," said Robbins.

Something these drivers are used to doing by now, after another messy night in the Badger state.

"We live in Wisconsin, so this is what we kind of have to deal with on a day-to-day basis,” said Robbins. “So this isn't going to stop us from getting out and doing what we have to do."
