People in Wausau react to end of Olympics

WAUSAU (WAOW) - The Winter Olympic Games in Sochi have come to a close.

People in Wausau shared with Newsline 9 what stood out to them over the past 17 days of competition.

"I really liked the women's open skate," said Miranda Hogan of Wausau. "I thought the routines were really good. I'm a little disappointed that the girl from South Korea didn't win."

Gavin Gould says he hoped for a better outcome for the U.S. mens' hockey team.

"America fell on the ice, but you know what? We get right back up and next time we're going to try again," said Gould of Wausau.

Others were awed by the competitors.

"I can't even imagine being 15 and competing in something like that or earning a gold medal," said Desiree Ryan of Wausau. "Kind of made me feel like a slacker a little bit."

The next Winter Games will be held in South Korea in 2018.
