Prehistoric artifacts in the spotlight in Marathon County

WAUSAU (WAOW) -  The Marathon County Historical Society welcomed an archaeological expert Sunday afternoon.

Doug Miller has called archaeology a hobby since 1978.

Sunday he put some of his prehistoric artifacts on display. It was just a small portion of his ten thousand piece collection.

Miller said he hasn't shared like this for a few years but he enjoyed bringing out his collection again.

"You get to hear other people talk about their interests and share a little bit of the information that you've gathered. If it's just kept inside in a closet, no one benefits from it," Miller said.

Miller said most people who show up to his talks are simply curious.

But he has also met several knowledgeable collectors in Wausau. He said it's been fun to share his finds with them.
