Fire destroys rural Adams home; Mom, child safe

ADAMS (WAOW) – A mother, her young child and two pet cats escaped a fire early Wednesday that destroyed their rural Adams home, the Adams County Sheriff's Department said.

The fire was reported about 6:45 a.m. at the home about four miles southeast of Adams, Lt. Seth Tully said.

It is not suspicious. I think they are suspecting electrical problems,” Tully said.

The mother told investigators she heard a “popping noise and smelled smoke” before she got her child and the cats and fled the home, Tully said.
