Cold weather not letting up

WAUSAU (WAOW) - The cold is here to stay, at least for a little while longer.

Wednesday was bitterly cold, and unsurprisingly, few people were out on the streets.

It was just more than 2 weeks ago the 400 Block in downtown Wausau was packed for Winterfest. But judging by Wednesday's meager foot traffic there, it appears people have fatigued of the winter.

It's been so cold that ice sculptures from that Winterfest are still partially intact. This is the kind of cold that will be hard to forget.

Dirty snow is still piled high, and there's enough that it could take some time to melt even when the seasons change.

"I'm a Midwest guy originally anyway, but this is crazy cold. Zero is the new thirty it seems like," said Parker Lanier of Wausau.

Lanier was walking around without any kind of jacket on. He said working hard keeps him warm and joked that he'll probably get a coat for next winter.
