MILWAUKEE (WAOW) - Schuette Metals of Rothschild was one of nine companies given awards at the 26th Manufacturer of the Year banquet.
The metal fabricator received the Investing in the Future Award for its skills-based training program, Gov. Scott Walker said. The award was handed out Thursday night.
Manufacturing companies in Fond du Lac, Plymouth, Milwaukee, Menomonee Falls, Ripon, Eau Claire and Kenosha also received awards.
Schuette Metals make parts and components used in finished products for a variety of industries, including agriculture and energy.
In winning the Investing in the Future Award, officials said Schuette Metals helped create a central Wisconsin metal manufacturers group that reaches out to students, starting in junior high, educating them that manufacturing is a high-tech career full of opportunity.
“Manufacturing is leading our state back to economic recovery,” Walker said in a statement. “These are highly-skilled, family-supporting jobs, and it is important to support and encourage growth in this sector as we establish Wisconsin as the leading manufacturing state."
