Police: Marijuana seized from UWSP fraternity

STEVENS POINT (WAOW) –   Police raided a UW-Stevens Point fraternity house Friday. According to Sgt. Tony Babl, officers got a tip drugs were being sold there.

The raid happened around 7:00 a.m. The SWAT team assisted.

Stevens Point police say marijuana and drug paraphernalia were taken from the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity house on Main Street. According to police, about 10 people live at the home.

"With all the states passing marijuana laws some people wonder why we focus on that. But, in our opinion, marijuana is a gateway drug to other drugs," said Sgt. Babl. "We are really stepping up our drug enforcement."

Investigators say they'll work with the district attorney to recommend charges.

One person was arrested for battery and resisting an officer, Babl said.
