Local children & Wausau Police "ball with badges"

WAUSAU (WAOW) - Wausau police officers were "Ballin' with Badges" Friday night.

The officers took to the court for a good cause.

Officers went head to head with members of the Boys & Girls Club of the Wausau area. The four-on-four half court basketball tournament wasn't all for fun. Police officers hoped children would learn teamwork and positive attitudes from the game.

"The biggest thing we're looking for is to bring us together and have a good time," said Officer Nate Stetzer. "Bring the community and the kids together is what our goal is."

Around 20 kids and eight teams competed. Officers also challenged club members to ping pong, bingo, and a create-your-own hat and mitten competition.
