UPDATE: US 51 Northbound back to normal after car fire

LINCOLN COUNTY (WAOW) - Traffic on northbound US 51 outside of Merrill is back to normal after a car fire this afternoon backed up traffic for miles.

Lincoln County Sheriff's officials say a pick up truck caught fire as the driver was driving northbound.

They say when Pine River firefighters arrived, the vehicle was fully engulfed.

Officials say this happened just before 4 p.m. Saturday.

Traffic was backed up for at least four miles but one lane had reopened by 5 p.m.

Officials say the 17 year old driver from Merrill was not hurt.

They say the truck is a total loss.
