Granite Peak Mardi Gras a success

RIB MOUNTAIN (WAOW) - Skiers and snowboarders celebrated Mardi Gras at Granite Peak Saturday.

The lodge had food and drink specials all day including Hurricanes, a signature Bourbon Street cocktail.

Officials also said there were beads circulating around the mountain.

Officials did their best to re-enact the real New Orleans experience.

"We're pretty far off temperature-wise, so I don't know if we're trying to get exactly like Mardi Gras here, but we're just trying to have a good time with it," said Chris Pingel, a snow sports educator at the slope.

Granite Peak has been holding their annual Mardi Gras celebration for at least ten years. Officials say about 2,000 people were out on the mountain Saturday.
