UPDATE Autopsy set for man found frozen

Posted:
VILAS COUNTY (WAOW) - The Vilas County Sheriff's Department said Monday that an autopsy was ordered for a 49-year-old man found frozen to the ground outside his St. Germain home.

Wade Willey was last seen about 1 a.m. Saturday and he was found outside the front door of his home about 18 hours later, the sheriff's department said.

Investigators said it appeared Willey died from the extreme cold and alcohol may have been a factor in his death.

The autopsy is expected to be completed Tuesday, Lt. Carl Gauger said.

Gauger declined comment on why investigators think alcohol may have been a factor in Willey's death, pending the results of the autopsy. Gauger also declined comment on where Willey was when he was last seen early Saturday morning.
