STEVENS POINT (WAOW) -
The Portage County Arts Alliance worked to keep community theater alive and well Sunday.
They held their annual spring fundraiser in Stevens Point. As part of this year's program, they performed a show called Return to Scarlet Gulch.
In its 18th year, organizers say the community show appeals to families.
Whether you're in the cast, the crew, or just in the audience, they say it's an event that brings people together.
"You're in the spotlight. You get to do the makeup. You see your friends and neighbors so maybe you come to the community show and say, 'Oh, that's my neighbor,' or 'I know that lady from church,'" said Elizabeth Aguillera, the Arts Alliance executive director.
Organizers estimated the show would bring in about $3500. All proceeds go toward the Alliance's mission of advocacy for arts and culture.
