Weston votes to share humane officer with Wausau

WESTON (WAOW) -- The Village of Weston has voted to share a humane officer with the city of Wausau.

The village board passed that measure Monday evening.

The humane officer handles issues with animals. Everest Metro Police Chief Wally Sparks says this is a good way to share services in tight times.

It's not a matter of where to cut, it's a matter of what to cut,” said Sparks. “I think when you look at consolidating services, I think this is simply the best chance to try and maintain a level of services by working together.”

The humane officer has already been working in Wausau. Her name is Ashley Bishop.
