Local elementary school celebrates Dr. Seuss

WAUSAU ( WAOW) - It was all about Dr. Seuss Monday at Maine Elementary School in Wausau.

This is part of a national week-long program called "Read Across America."

Maine Elementary School students celebrated Dr. Seuss by playing trivia games and dressing up. School leaders say they'll read different Dr. Seuss books to students throughout the week. They say this is a great way to encourage students to read.

"Dr. Seuss has a magical way of using rhyme rhythm in his reading and it's fun, it's easy, it's silly, it's lighthearted, and kids just really enjoy it," said Marie Northup, Maine Elementary School Principal.

School leaders say several guest readers are signed up to read their favorite Dr. Seuss books to students this week.
