Major league baseball has extended its replay system for the 2014 season, and a former local baseball player will be right in the midst of the change. DC Everest alumnus Gregg Langbehn, who is also Melissa Langbehn's brother, has joined the Cleveland Indians as their Major League Replay Coordinator.
His duties will involve monitoring plays in the clubhouse and relaying information to the dugout. Instant re-play has been used successfully in the NFL and Langbehn says he hopes the same for baseball.
"This is an opportunity to work at the highest level and I'm certainly willing and able to accept that challenge. This is something completely different and obviously new to everyone else. I'm looking forward to that challenge and looking forward for it to get underway."
