Living history lesson for some Wausau students

Posted:
WAUSAU (WAOW) -- Some Wausau area students took part in a living World War II history lesson.

Seventh graders at Horace Mann Middle School heard veterans share their memories.

Walter John Chilsen of Wausau says the stories are important for children to hear.

"They need to hear how the war started and what it took to win it. And I think they need to learn why it is always important to be on guard,"  said Chilsen.

The Wausau man is one of several veterans who shared their stories.

Students said it was interesting hearing from those who actually experienced the war.
