Crews work to remove snow before thaw

WAUSAU (WAOW) - Wausau Public Works crews are removing as much snow as they can before the temperature rises.

The Public Works supervisor, Ric Mohelnitzky, says crews were out in full force Friday. He says they removed about one thousand yards of snow.

He says if it warms up too quickly, flooding could be an issue.

"The snow banks are in the way of all the catchbases and to alleviate localized flooding, we're trying to open up as many as we can," said Mohelnitzky.

Public Works leaders say they are conserving salt, but they say safety and clearing this mess is their first concern.
