Rothschild snow sculptures bring families together

ROTHSCHILD (WAOW) - One Rothschild woman is doing her part to get families to spend quality time together.

After Patty Zemke built a snow sculpture of a bird with her children, she thought it would be cool if her neighbors did the same.

Zemke brought the idea to the Rothschild Village Board and helped organize the activity for the entire community.

Families who register with the Village receive a flag or a pinwheel to put in their yard, indicating they have built a sculpture.

As a health teacher, Zemke knows the importance of getting off the couch in the winter.

"It was hard with the snow because the snow isn't packing well, but i said, 'You know what? That doesn't matter. What matters is that you're outside with your family," Zemke said.

Several area businesses have donated prizes for the snow sculptors who register.

Zemke hopes building snow sculptures becomes an annual tradition that more people will embrace.
