20 cattle killed in rural Auburndale fire

AUBURNDALE (WAOW) – About 20 cattle were killed in a fire that destroyed a rural Auburndale milking barn early Tuesday, Auburndale Fire Chief Todd Bores said.

About 60 cattle escaped or were rescued, he said.

The fire broke out about 6 a.m. at the dairy farm on Pleasant Hill Road just north of Auburndale as the farmers were getting ready to do morning milking, investigators said.

Bores said investigators think some kind of electrical problem may have caused the fire.

No one was hurt.
