Pointers want to keep earning 40 more minutes

Posted:

The UW-Stevens Point men's basketball team will host games in the sectional rounds of the NCAA tournament this Friday and Saturday. On Friday night, UW-Whitewater will play the University of Texas-Dallas at 5 p.m., followed by the Pointers facing Emory University (GA) at 8 p.m.

Over the weekend, the #1 ranked Pointers survived a couple scares in the opening rounds of the tournament. Stevens Point picked up a two point win over Marian on Friday. After giving up a 15 point lead on Saturday, the Pointers held off Central College to advance to the Sweet 16.

With a win this Friday, the Pointers will play the winner of UW-Whitewater and Texas-Dallas on Saturday for the chance to advance the NCAA Division III Final Four in Salem, Virginia.

Coach Bob Semling has implemented a certain theory into his team's mindset for this postseason.

"40 good minutes, gets you 40 more. That's what we intend to do on Friday night," said Semling. "We hope that we will again perform very well and play well for 40 minutes and earn 40 more minutes on our home floor."
