RHINELANDER (WAOW) – Repairs to a water supply pump forced Pelican Elementary School in northern Wisconsin to cancel classes at 10 a.m. Wednesday, administrators said.
“It was anticipated that this would be a quick fix. So we brought in provisions of water and hand sanitizers thinking it was only going to be temporary. Upon further inspection, the repairs will take longer than anticipated,” the school said in a statement.
The Oneida County Health Department advised that for health and safety reasons classes should be called off, administrators said.
The school, which is in the Rhinelander School District and is located just outside Rhinelanderj, is expected to reopen Thursday. The school for grades kindergarten through third has about 300 students, the principal said.
