Students in Wausau celebrate Pi Day

Posted:
WAUSAU (WAOW) - In math circles, March 14 is better known as Pi Day or 3.14 Day.

To celebrate, students at Wausau West High School turned in assignments that showed the relationship between the number pi and circumference.

Students created pies, cakes and other objects to demonstrate what they learned.

About 40 students participated in the extra credit assignment.

"It lets them go beyond the textbook and go beyond the examples we do in class. It lets them really explore and get their creative juices going," said Paul Linzmeyer, a Wausau West math teacher.

Linzmeyer says teachers try to assign the project every year.
