Crews respond to scene of water main break in Wisconsin Rapids

WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WAOW) - Wisconsin Rapids Police Patrol Lt. Brian Krzykowski told Newsline 9 crews responded to the scene of a water main break on 8th Street South near Pepper Avenue in Wisconsin Rapids.

Officials say they received reports of the water main break around 1 p.m. Sunday.

Officers have the road blocked off for northbound traffic, but are working to open one lane in each direction.

Officials are asking drivers to avoid the area if possible and drive carefully if they must drive through the area.

Krzykowski says he believes the spring thaw caused the water main break. He says Water Works crews and the Wisconsin Rapids Street Department will be assessing the damage.
