Class teaches people about technology

Posted:
WAUSAU (WAOW) - Dozens of people in Wausau got a lesson in becoming a little more tech savvy on Thursday.

United Way RSVP and the Tech Tutor Program hosted a class at the UW-Extension.

It taught computer and technology basics, including how to use a USB port.

Volunteers say they teach because they want people to get more familiar with technology.

"Our goal is to have people be comfortable," said Mike Theiss, a Tech Tutor Program coordinator. "We're not worried about the details. Learn the terms and say to yourself 'hey, this would be fun to try.'"

Newsline 9's Paige Hulsey helped with the class. She gave a lesson on how to use smartphones.

Next Thursday, there will be a class on Internet security.
